SR-56 is a vital east-west freeway link between the region's primary north-south freeways, I-5 and I-15. SR-56 was completed in July of 2004; however, funding is not secured for completion of the two missing connectors at the I-5/SR-56 interchange.

Welcome to the Build the SR-56 Connectors
website!
| The Coalition is committed to providing
current and up-to-date information about the SR-56 Connectors project.
We are currently updating our website. Please check back soon for new
information. |
|
This site is provided as an informational resource to help
residents of the San Diego region learn about this important
transportation improvement.
We encourage you to read the information on this site and come
back often for updates. If you agree that federal funding for these
critical transportation links is important, sign up as one of our
coalition supporters. We will keep you informed of new developments
and let you know how you can help us in the effort to secure
funding for the missing SR-56 connectors.
The benefits of this project include:
- A smooth transition of traffic between I-5 and
I-15 with the aid of the SR-56 link, one of the region's few
east-west freeways.
- Elimination of congestive surface traffic that
will pass through communities adjacent to the missing
freeway-to-freeway links.
- Improved safety by eliminating through traffic on
local residential streets and highways.
- Safer and swifter traffic movement on I-5 and on
I-15, thus vastly improving NAFTA truck movement
between Orange, Riverside and Los Angeles Counties and the Mexican
border.
